Downing offers a range of sporting facilities, including tennis and netball courts, cricket and football pitches, these are free for use by any member and are in addition to our large, grass paddock that can be adapted to a variety of sports.
The JCR maintains a list of sports clubs in Downing. Most sports (and other societies) in college are ‘owned’ by DCAC, which is the combination of the JCR and the MCR (undergraduates and postgraduates respectively).
As well as the range of sports in college, there are also numerous sports teams with members from around the University. Consult CUSU Societies Directory for more details. Often, but by no means always, college-level sports will be more relaxed and friendly, whereas university societies will be more ‘hardcore’.
If societies are more your thing, there are plenty to get involved with, both within Downing and within the University.
You can find a list of college societies here.
There’s also the CUSU Societies Directory for University-wide societies.
